Java is renowned for its exotic cultures, arts, dances,
history and lush tropical beauty. In the hills, sprawling
rainforests give way to alpine meadows and n the lowlands,
paddy fields and tobacco plantations converge with fragrant
spice fields. On the skyline, volcanoes loom grey and
majestic which will make visitors admire such scenic
lyricism.
Today, appropriately perhaps, Java is the most densely
populated part of Indonesia. Javanese are varried and
colorful people. The Badui, for example, are direct
descendants of the Pajajaran Empire and still preserve
a millenium old way of life in the isolated highlands
of West Java where they have nothing to do with airlanes,
automobiles, taxes and coins. Barter supplies all their
needs.
Bandung
Bandung is the provincial capital of West Java and
Indonesia' s third largest city. Also known as the flowers
city and the Paris of Java during colonial time because
of its European ambiance and sophistication.
Bandung is situated on a plateau in the beautiful Parahayangan
mountains, thus it has a pleasant climate and lush surroundings.
Today, Bandung is a center of higher education ,commerce
and aircraft industry and popular for its shopping,
particularly for shoes, textiles, clothing and denims
which are found in the colorful Jeans street .
Pretty near from Jakarta, it is an essential stay-over
for travelers enroute through Java.
Jakarta
Jakarta is the port of entry for many tourists and business
people. It is home to a dynamic contrast between Western-style
skyscrapers, modern urban life-styles and traditional
Indonesian culture. Current population of Jakarta consists
of various ethnic groups from different parts of Indonesia,
including Chinese, Arab and Indian descents in commercial
areas. City of Jakarta about 8,500,000 people.
Temples
The ruins of civilizations long burried in the soil
and jungle tanggle of Java include Borrobudur (one of
the world's wonders), Prambanan and Panataran which
still stand awe-inspiring proofs of bygone eras. Most
